There are several ways to contribute to Shabazz through the Foundation for Madison Schools:
A will is the foundation of an Estate Plan. In addition to being an effective way to distribute your estate, your will or living trust can be a vehicle through which to make charitable gifts. It may seem clear, for example, that if you plan to leave your estate to your children, they will be the beneficiaries. However, there may be a "hidden" beneficiary, that receives 40, 45, 50 percent or more of your estate. This so-called hidden beneficiary is the tax collector. Federal estate tax rates, not to mention state death tax rates, go up to 55 percent on taxable estates above $3 million.
Options within a will for consideration are:
gift of stock
beneficiary from insurance policies
donations from trusts
A gift in someone's memory. All memorial gifts to our school foundation will be acknowledged by sending a memorial letter to the surviving family mentioning the name and address of the donor but not mentioning the amount gifted. Please include:
The name of the deceased and date of death (copy of obituary is helpful).
The name and address of the surviving widow, widower or family member that we should notify of your gift.
The name and address of each donor and amount of each donation.
Name, address and telephone number of the contact person in case there are questions.
